Top 2022 Interior Design Trends for Your Home

We have all experienced trends in some aspects of our lives. For example, remember those fantastic MC Hammer balloon pants or when it was cool to wear your clothes criss-cross (will make you jump jump)? Uh-huh, you know what I am talking about.

Trends come and go in every field, from fashion to tech. However, interior design trends can be quite costly to keep up with the ever-changing times.

So why should we care about design trends? Interior designers create a timeless experience in your home, and we use the latest trends to make more thoughtful and informed choices. We can also view new ways of using better tools and resources backed by the latest research and development.

So today, I’m sharing 5 trends to consider using to create a timeless experience in your home…

Bringing the Outdoors In

Over the past few years dealing with "The Rona,” many of my clients have been creating outdoor living spaces to expand their family's living and entertaining area in the home.

We are seeing it all from California room suites, pool houses, and ADA's dwellings!  What I love about this is that people are traveling less. They are spending more time with the people in their lives who are most important and creating a greener, healthier community.

Moody Color Palettes

The all-white, light color palettes are making their exit, and dark, moody walls and wallpaper are bringing in some long-lost drama in our lives! That's right, no more hospital white kitchens cabinets and light grey color walls. Instead, we will see much more homes transitioning into a warmer, bolder palette this year.

More Marble Please!

We expect to see more marble selected over any other stones in the market this year. Thanks to its minimal, organic nature, it has become the classic favorite of influencers and design enthusiasts. As a result, we are 100% a go on all things marble and marble-like materials for the home in 2022!

Earthy Tones and Textures

Expect to see more tactile materials, including wood, plaster, bronze, and leather finishes. Lime washes are also starting to penetrate the market much more. Metallics, concrete and textured doors featuring heavy wood grains and marble-effect and stone finishes are also becoming more popular in kitchens. We love how these materials create a sophisticated finish to the home.

Flexible Living Spaces

Yes, say goodbye to the open concept! With the continuation of flexible living and working spaces, the need for various age groups to be under one roof during all hours of the day creates a need for a more versatile dwelling that can be converted into a communal space and a workspace.

We have loved seeing the creativity of some of our clients, over the past few years, come up with fun ways to create additional rooms for their loved ones.

We are excited to see where these trends take us throughout the year. Don't be afraid to add a little color or mix up some of those materials. Your home is your sanctuary, it should make you feel comfortable, inspired, safe, and beautiful.

If you know what you like and you just can't seem to pull it all together, give us a call.  We love supporting our clients, helping them create the best experience in their homes.
